I've been exploring the concept of "free will" over the past week or so. I have a friend who I asked if she believed in free will and my friend responded that she read somewhere that As Consciousness, ideas flow in and through us and we may all experience the same thought at the same time... which got me thinking (scary I know) This is evident because things pop up in these "channeled" writings at the same time I am experiencing the same thing and lots of times, I'm like "Hey!! that's going on with me RIGHT NOW!" Of course it is, I am one with All... the only difference is that I am a perceptual point of view in the field of One and my point of view will be different... same thing, different perspective. I have been asked by many people if I read the "Abraham" writings because I apparently say many of the same things. I don't. I may some day but that is doubtful because I don't read much anymore. Anyway, when people ask me that and tell me I sound like Ester Hicks when she talks about "Abraham," my response has been, "Of course, we share a Consciousness... I am the same consciousness that moves through Ester Hicks."
It feels to me that if this is true, that any idea can come to many or all of us at the same time, that the clearer you are, the more freely any thought in consciousness will move through you. The more filters you have in place and the more you identify with "being someone" the more blocks you will have and your identification with that "Being someone" will confine the expression of Consciousness moving through you. If you are clear, consciousness can move through pretty unobstructed and things seem to flow for you. If you are unconscious, things will still happen, but you will be in your own way. They will happen anyway, you just perceive conflict because of your filters and belief systems.
For example, taking an easy example... The world is going through a very chaotic growth process right now. This is what happens with all spiritual growth processes until one surrenders to our higher nature and allows things to happen. Things don't "happen" though until we release our identity as "being someone" and allow whatever happens to happen. Belief systems are being challenged and change is happening. If one is in alignment with one's True Nature, change is just part of "What is." If you cling to your ideologies and beliefs, they are being ripped out from underfoot (becuause you really have no choice) and those beliefs are no longer necessary. They are excess baggage and the plane only allows carry-on luggage.
As consciousness, the "individual" will respond to whatever is happening from past experience... these are our filters and our blocks and our ego.. (all the same thing) When we release the filters (baggage... which includes our individual identity), we release our "specialness" whether we perceive our specialness is as being the "hottest, coolest chick on the planet" or the "least deserving dumbest sod on the planet" doesn't matter, they are both self identifying labels and equally inhibitive.
"Free Will" seems to have to do with the layers of beliefs we have. If we release the idea of "I am a person" and embrace the idea of "I am both nothing and everything" then there is much more freedom in that. When you know you are everything (all that is) and nothing (the individual doesn't exist) then you know that whatever "choice" you make is movement in consciousness and whatever choice you make, you are making it for your SELF... because you are ALL. When you are free from filters, consciousness just flows and you can observe things from a detached perspective and allow anything to happen because you know that you as an individual are not driving the boat. When you perceive that you are an individual (separate truths) then you will experience blocks because your attachment to "who you think you are" is more important to you than actually letting go and allowing Consciousness (God) to guide your course. Because who you REALLY are is Consciousness.
It is not, however, and individual's choice to think any given thought at any time. That is a fabrication of the ego because we are afraid of not being in control... because we identify with the individual or the body (same thing) Any thought (even the thought to change your thoughts) is movement in Consciousness.
